South Bay

Mental Health Care in the South Bay

The South Bay is not one community. It is a coastal strip, a peninsula, and a large inland city that happen to share a name, and the distance between how people live in Rancho Palos Verdes and how they live in North Redondo is real. This page is the starting point. Where you go from here depends on where you are.

Bodhi Wellness Collective

One office, one team, the whole practice

We work out of a single office at 2200 Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach, and we see clients virtually throughout California. That is deliberate. A practice with one location and one clinical team can actually coordinate care, which is the thing most people discover they wanted only after being handed between three providers who never spoke.

Individual, couples, family, teen, and group therapy; psychiatry and medication management; EMDR and trauma treatment; ADHD and neuropsychological testing; addiction treatment and outpatient detox. When your needs change, the next step happens inside the same practice instead of starting over with a stranger.

Which kind of help are you actually looking for?

Most people start by searching for a therapist because that is the word they know. It is not always the right starting point, and picking wrong costs months.

You have done the talking and want to know whether medication would helpA psychiatric evaluation

If you cannot tell which row you are in, that is a perfectly good reason to book a consultation. Sorting it out is part of what the call is for.

What we are and what we are not

We are an outpatient practice. That means weekly appointments alongside your actual life, not a program you attend all day. It suits most people most of the time, and it does not suit everyone. If what someone needs is a residential program, an intensive outpatient schedule, or emergency care, the useful thing we can do is say that clearly and help find it, which we would rather do than keep someone in a level of care that will not hold them.

We are also private-pay, which we say early rather than at the end. It buys a practice that is not designed around what a panel authorizes. It also means we are not the right answer for everyone, and there is no version of this where we pretend otherwise to get you onto a calendar.

Questions

Frequently asked

What counts as the South Bay?

In practice it means the coastal strip and the communities behind it in southwest Los Angeles County: El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach along the coast, the Palos Verdes Peninsula to the south, and Torrance inland. Some definitions stretch further to Gardena, Lomita, San Pedro, and Carson. There is no official boundary, which is why the term gets used loosely.

How do I choose between in-person and telehealth?

Distance is the honest first filter. If you are in Hermosa, Manhattan Beach, or Redondo, in-person is easy enough that it is worth defaulting to. From the Peninsula or inland Torrance, weekly virtual sessions are often what makes therapy survive a real calendar. Clinically, in-person matters more for trauma processing, couples work, and people who shut down under stress.

What is the difference between outpatient care and a treatment program?

Outpatient means you live your life and come to appointments, typically weekly. A residential or intensive program means structured hours most days. We are an outpatient practice. If someone needs a higher level of care than we provide, we will say so and help find it rather than treat around the edges of it.

Is there anywhere in the South Bay that takes my insurance?

Yes, and there are more insurance-based options inland, particularly around Torrance, than in the beach cities. We are private-pay and provide superbills for out-of-network PPO reimbursement. If insurance is what makes care possible for you, that is worth establishing on a 15-minute call rather than after an intake.

How long does it take to be seen?

We are accepting new clients. Because matching matters more than throughput, the first step is a conversation rather than a waitlist position. If we are not the right fit, we would rather tell you that in fifteen minutes than in six weeks.

What if I am in crisis right now?

Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or go to your nearest emergency room. We are an outpatient practice and we do not provide emergency or after-hours crisis response. That is not the service to wait on a consultation for.

When you're ready, a conversation is the place to begin.
