Serving Hermosa Beach

Therapy & Mental Health Care in Hermosa Beach

Hermosa Beach is where our office is. Not a service area we cover from somewhere else, not a telehealth radius drawn on a map, but the building we actually work out of, at 2200 Pacific Coast Highway. If you live here, you can be in the room.

Why that matters more than it sounds

Most people do not leave therapy because it stopped working. They leave because it got hard to get to. A 40-minute drive turns a weekly appointment into a negotiation with yourself every Tuesday, and eventually the negotiation wins. Living in the same city as your clinician removes the most common reason good therapy quietly ends.

That is the practical case for care in your own city. It is not about ambiance. It is about whether you are still going in month seven.

When being in the room genuinely changes the work

We offer telehealth across California and we do not treat it as the lesser option, because for a lot of outpatient work it simply is not. But there are situations where sitting in the same room does real clinical work that a screen cannot:

  • Trauma processing, including EMDR, where a clinician is tracking your body as much as your words
  • People who go numb, freeze, or drift under stress, which is much harder to catch through a webcam
  • Teenagers, who often talk more freely sitting alongside an adult than staring into a camera
  • Anyone whose home does not contain one private room, which is more common here than people admit
  • Couples work, where what happens between two people in a room is half the information

You do not have to choose once and forever. Plenty of people here hold a standing in-person slot and switch to video the week they are traveling or sick, with the same clinician throughout.

Who we tend to see from Hermosa

Hermosa skews older and more established than its reputation suggests. The median age is 42.7, the median household income is roughly $166,000, and nearly a third of adults here hold a master's degree or a doctorate. That is not the party-town cliché. It is a city full of people in their forties with real careers, real mortgages, and a lot of responsibility.

What that population walks in with is fairly consistent: the burnout of a career that succeeded, anxiety that has been managed rather than treated for a decade, marriages under strain from two demanding jobs, drinking that has crept up in a town where everyone drinks, and the particular disorientation of having built the life you planned and not feeling the way you expected to feel inside it.

What people in Hermosa Beach come to us for

The full practice, in one place

Because everything is under one team, you are not sent across town when your needs change. Individual, couples, family, and teen therapy, psychiatry and medication management, EMDR and trauma care, ADHD and neuropsychological testing, and addiction treatment all run out of the same practice.

Questions

Frequently asked

Where exactly is your Hermosa Beach office?

We are at 2200 Pacific Coast Highway, Suite 308, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254. For most of Hermosa that is a five to ten minute drive, and for some of the city it is genuinely walkable.

Is in-person therapy actually better than telehealth?

Not universally, and we do not claim it is. Telehealth is equally effective for a great deal of outpatient work. In-person tends to matter more for trauma processing, for people who dissociate or go numb under stress, for teenagers who talk more easily side by side than on camera, and for anyone whose home has no private room in it.

Can I be seen weekly in person?

Yes. Weekly is the standard cadence for most therapy, and living in the office city makes it far easier to hold. The single most common reason people drift out of therapy is friction in getting there.

I live in Hermosa but work in West LA or downtown. Does that work?

It usually does, because you can mix formats. Some clients come in on a Friday and take the rest of their sessions virtually, or hold early-morning in-person slots before heading north. Same clinician either way, so nothing restarts when the format changes.

What actually happens in the first session?

It is a conversation, not an intake interrogation. Your clinician will want the history, what brought you in now, and what you would want to be different. You should leave with a sense of what the work would look like, and you are not committing to anything by showing up.

Do you take insurance?

No, we are private-pay. We provide superbills you can submit to a PPO for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and we will walk you through how that works before you commit to anything.

When you're ready, a conversation is the place to begin.
